On February 15, 2026, Bethel Church in Redding, California—one of the most influential charismatic congregations in the world—announced that Ben Armstrong, its Director of Prophetic Ministry and a senior pastor at the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry (BSSM), had been placed on administrative leave. The reason: a former BSSM student, identified publicly only as "Sarah," came forward in a video interview on the Wake Up and Win podcast with detailed allegations of clergy sexual abuse dating back to 2009.
But Sarah's story was just the beginning. Over the following months, our investigation uncovered a pattern of abuse spanning more than fifteen years, involving at least seven additional victims, and revealing systemic failures in Bethel's accountability structures that allowed Armstrong to operate with impunity.
This is the story of how one of the charismatic movement's most prominent churches failed to protect its most vulnerable members—and how a culture of "honor" became a shield for predatory behavior.
